why we fly is an award-winning short film by Allie Marsh (stick + rudder media’s owner and creative director).
Today, only about 7 percent of all pilots are female. why we fly is a celebration of the lady aviators who make up the 7 percent and a tribute to our freedom to fly.

Allie is a multidisciplinary digital media artist, award-winning filmmaker, and taildraggin’ Private Pilot. She grew up immersed in the general aviation world with her pilot parents and finds her passion at the intersection of art and airplanes. She graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Fine Arts with a BFA in Digital Media + Design in May 2020 and has been living the freelance dream for 6 years. Along the way, she has had the privilege to work with incredible companies like Daher Kodiak, Whelen Aerospace Technologies, PBS: FRONTLINE, VERB Energy Co., Velocity Aircraft, Accidentally Wes Anderson x Sotheby’s, and more.
